Selecting text and content

Show/Hide Hidden Text

This topic outlines the different ways you can select text and content in the Help & Manual editor. You can use both the mouse and key combinations.

Select a block of text:

Click and drag. Or click in the editor, hold down Shift and then click at the end of the text you want to select.

Select a single word:

Click and drag or double-click on the word.

Select a single line:

Click to the left of the line in the margin of the editor.

Select a paragraph:

Triple-click in the paragraph or click and drag from the beginning of the paragraph to the end.

Selecting graphics:

Click once on the graphic.

Hyperlinks:

Click once to select and edit link text, double-click to edit link properties (Ctrl+Click navigates to the link target topic).

Selecting a table:

Position the mouse pointer just to the left of the table and left-click. For more details see Selecting and formatting cells and tables.

Select by word:

Hold down Shift+Ctrl and press right or left cursor arrow.

Select by screen:

Hold down Shift and press PgUp or PgDown.

Select everything:

Press Ctrl+A or select Edit > Select All.

Keyboard shortcuts:

Click on View > Program Options and then select the Shortcuts tab to view and edit all the keyboard shortcuts available in the program.
