Please note: toggles are available in the Professional Edition only!

This is the long awaited implementation for dynamic HTML text - headings that toggle the visibility of another paragraph in HTML.

If you wonder how that looks like - look at this page (you have just opened a toggle). But we have gone beyond that and implemented 3 types of toggles:

Dropdown toggles - switch one or more paragraphs

Inline toggles - switch a single line of text

Screenshot toggles - switch pictures from thumbnail to full-size and back

Help & Manual 4.2 is fully compatible with Windows Vista RC2.

Since Windows Vista has dropped support for the HLP help format, we have converted Help & Manual's own help system to CHM only. Context sensitive help in Help & Manual's own online help is now implemented with plain-text popups.

Please note that you still can compile HLP files with Help & Manual on Vista.

The HTML based output (compiled HTML Help and browser-based Webhelp) of version 4.2 is fully compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.

A few tweaks were necessary to make Help & Manual run on MojoPac. MojoPac is a technology that transforms your iPod or USB Hard Drive or Flash drive into a portable and private PC.

Help & Manual 4.2 includes an updated PDF engine with full support for Asian CID fonts. While all other output formats of Help & Manual had full support for Unicode already, the built-in PDF engine had not. This gap is now filled.

The text editor now correctly handles right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic and switches the table-of-contents accordingly. Please note that right-to-left language support is still somewhat experimental and feedback is appreciated!

We have implemented an updated version of the HTML full-text indexer in Help & Manual's browser-based help output with better support for Japanese and other Asian languages.

A new function batch-converts manually formatted text into genuine styles.

All links, pictures and picture hotspots now feature an additional "Title" property for HTML based output formats. Browsers use the title property to display mouse-over hints for a particular item.

We have improved all import formats to fix some minor annoyances for CHM files and inconsistent Robohelp projects, and enhanced image handling when importing Word documents.

Two bug have been fixed in the XML export. The schema specification has been updated to v1.1 to include toggle objects, link titles and IDs.

Several minor enhancements and fixes regarding HTML and PDF export, XML conversion, Unicode handling and the built-in word processor.

*) Available in Help & Manual 4.2 Professional but not in the Standard version.

If you have Help & Manual 4 Standard, you are eligable to upgrade to the Professional Edition for a reduced price.
